BackBeat Samba is a vibrant and high-energy street band, brought to you by the award winning Jack Drum Arts, based in County Durham. Founded in the North East of England in 1986, Jack Drum Arts has a rich history of delivering high quality arts and performance projects, specialising in music, street theatre, and carnival arts.
BackBeat Samba has emerged from our young artists programme developed during the pandemic and delivers high quality performance projects, incorporating music, street theatre, and carnival arts.
The performers in BackBeat Samba are each skilled artists who have worked with leading street theatre companies and festivals across the UK and Europe, including performances at leading events such as Stockton International Riverside Festival, Edinburgh Fringe and Notting Hill Carnival. Our versatile team are involved in various aspects of street performance and theatre production, particularly in outdoor spaces.
